The County of San Diego's Office of County Counsel has an immediate opening for Coordinator, Grand Jury
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for providing administrative support to the County of San Diego Grand Jury and for ensuring continuity between the successive impaneled Grand Juries by performing related duties as required.
This single position class is exclusively assigned to the Grand Jury. The incumbent receives general administrative direction from the Presiding Judge and receives daily assignments from the Grand Jury Foreman.
Examples of duties performed by this position are listed below:
- Assists the Grand Jury in daily activities.
- Receives Grand Jury inquiries and refers them to the appropriate committee, juror, or other governmental agency.
- Researches and responds to outside inquiries and explains Grand Jury complaint procedures to the public.
- Transcribes, prepares and distributes routine business and complex confidential correspondence, reports, and other documents.
- Assists in ensuring continuity between empanelled Grand Juries by maintaining, revising, and explaining policies and procedures.
- Advises Grand Jurors on a variety of issues.
- Prepares and presents initial orientation to the new Grand Jurors.
- Maintains files, logs, complaints, calendars, transcripts, reports, and other confidential records of Grand Jury activities, proceedings and business.
- Schedules and prepares for meetings, conferences and other events.
- Prepares Grand Juror payroll claims, computes per diem and mileage figures, and prepares related reports.
- Assists the District Attorney's Office in the selection of a criminal Grand Jury.
HIRING TIMELINE & DATES
The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.
- Job Offer and Background Process: Will begin shortly after the interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Will begin approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
- Anticipated Start Date: Will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three (3) years of full-time work experience performing legal assistant or secretarial duties involving direct services for attorneys or other professional staff in a legal or government office.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
