Responsibilities/Duties
The Senior Accountant will perform regular general ledger and period ending closing responsibilities including, but not limited to, journal entries, review of expenses, accruals, allocations, etc.
Additional Job Responsibilities include:
• Prepares monthly financial reports, quarterly SEC schedules, account reconciliations, and other financial schedules or analyses as assigned.
• Analyzes actual performance data compared to historical trends; assists with interpretation and analysis of reports.
• Prepares annual tax schedules as required by Corporate.
• Assists with SOX testing as assigned.
• Assists with regular review of account reconciliations and resolution of outstanding items.
• Assists with the development and implementation of financial policies and internal controls.
• Assists with the coordination of work requirements for all external, internal, and special audits.
• Ensure General Accounting policies, processes and operating procedures are clearly defined, up to date and documented.
• Ensure General Accounting process designs are consistent with best practices and aligned with the Global R2R Design document, initiating process improvement initiatives where appropriate. Create tools, processes, reports and metrics to drive and monitor these improvements. Focused efforts will be placed on automation and system capabilities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including Business Unit and Corporate Controllership teams, and both internal and external auditors, ensure appropriate communication with these stakeholders when questions regarding accounting matters arise. Assist in preparation of meetings with these stakeholders on key accounting and reporting topics.
• Resolve General Accounting related issues and disputes or escalate as required.
• Makes recommendations for improvements in processes and/or quality of information reported and assists with implementation of action plans.
• Performs other related duties or special projects as assigned.
• Assists Accounting Manager as required.
• B.S. in Accounting plus 5 years related experience. Professional certification (CPA, CMA) a plus.
• Knowledge of financial statements and GAAP.
• Proven ability to review and analyze data.
• Proficient computer operation skills including accounting system, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Demonstrated ability to drive meaningful improvements in performance, quality and efficiency through system and process innovation and effective project management.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-national, matrix organization, and build mutually productive business partner.
• Experience working on process improvement projects preferred
