Covanta is currently seeking a high potential Human Resources Manager to join our team and support the Waste to Energy facilities in Newark, NJ; Rahway, NJ; and Camden, NJ.

This role will provide HR generalist support in the areas of employee relations, policy development and administration, performance management, talent acquisition and training & development to the leadership teams and employees within the facilities. Support an employee base of about 200.
About 35% travel is expected in this role, depending on the base location.
Responsibilities:
Counsel facility managers on employee relation issues including but not limited to employee complaints, grievances, and investigations.
Determine recruitment strategies for open and future roles and provide hands-on support and guidance in the recruitment process.
Provide support and guidance to managers in the areas of compensation, compliance, talent development, succession planning, performance management, retention strategies, and effective record-keeping and general HR related issues.
Deliver corporate HR initiatives and programs effectively through the facilities.
Create an environment of positive employee relations; balance business needs with employee needs, establish trust and credibility with employees and be seen as approachable and fair.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or Human Resources
SHRM PHR or SPHR preferred
3 years in a HR Generalist or Manager role
Self-starter with hands-on approach who has a creative approach to implement HR practices
Passion for HR & ability to drive change
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision & to independently prioritize workload effectively
Excellent oral, written & interpersonal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
Strong knowledge of employment/labor law and progressive HR practices
HRIS & Workday experience a plus
Proficient with MS Office Products
