What are the responsibilities and job description for the LEAD MEDICAL LAB SCIENTIST position at Covenant Health?
Position Summary:
The Lead Laboratory Scientist is a self-motivator with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the clinical setting. The person must have compassion for patients and be able to strongly represent the hospital mission. The person performs advanced clinical procedures, including chemical, biological, immunological and bacteriological testing with an understanding of the theory and principle. The person must be able to cross train and work in all departments of the laboratory, perform bench work and do phlebotomy. This person assists the department supervisors with Superuser duties involving the LIS. This person has a take-charge attitude in all areas of the laboratory and acts as the point person when needed.
Education: Two-year college (Associate Degree)
And evidence they are actively working towards a bachelor’s of science degree.
Certification: MLT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) preferred
Experience: 3 – 5 years
