WHAT WE OFFER
The Regional Sustainability Manager will provide thought leadership regarding relevant sustainability trends, and support for implementation of Covestro’s climate and circular economy objectives for NA .
The preferred location for this role will be Pittsburgh but we would also consider candidates for our office in Washington D.C.
Major Responsibilities:
- Identify and apply relevant trends to NA Sustainability & Public Affairs long-term strategy, contributing to Covestro’s overall thought and actionable leadership in sustainability
- Understand and characterize energy and relevant GHG emissions trading schemes as they are currently used, and identify option spaces for improvement
- Understand and apply life cycle thinking/life cycle assessment to the NA market in support of Covestro’s climate and circularity objectives. LCA practitioner expertise will be sourced from another region.
- Contribute regional input to global climate, energy and policy experts and NA site transformation teams (including new RFM sites)
- Maximize internal synergies across BEs where overlapping markets/applications exist, by providing climate and energy know-how to relevant product opportunities
- Proactively seek out and develop necessary interfaces with key operations and functional (e.g. procurement, HSEQ, etc.) representatives important to Covestro sustainability objectives
WHAT YOU OFFER
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline, (polymer) chemistry, material science, sustainability, business, or related field and a minimum of 7 years of experience or master’s degree and 5 years of experience
- At least 3 years of sustainability related experience in the chemical industry, including working with and/or inside of industry associations
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with and knowledge of chemical/industry trends in the United States, particularly related to climate topics
- Strong chemical / polymer, climate and energy expertise
- Creative, innovative problem solver, strategic thinker & decision maker with global mindset
- Proven leadership skills to develop strategy and ability to influence stakeholders
- Skilled project manager with a results orientation and strong analytical skills
- Effective, diplomatic communicator with excellent interpersonal networking, influencing and facilitation skills
- Up to 25% travel may be required
