The Master Data Analyst (Item Add) manages the technical aspects of establishing and maintaining new items. They follow processes to ensure that there is consistency in the management of requests for new items. They work closely with our vendor partners to ensure the integrity of our data. They hold the internal and external cross functional teams accountable for moving through the item add process efficiently with frequent follow-ups. They are impeccable in their attention to detail and accuracy and laser focused on results. They are inquisitive and challenge data that doesn’t look accurate. They participate in large projects and take the lead with small projects on data clean-up. They have a passion for animals, some general knowledge of animal products and their application (pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, supplies and equipment), and are curious to learn a lot more. They backup Master Data Team functions, primarily supporting item add counterparts.
Performance metrics include but are not limited to 1) data quality 2) item add efficiency 3) item add volume 4) projects completed.

Responsibilities
- Enters new items utilizing documented processes to support the team.
- Develops understanding of systems and analytic tools used by the organization (including, but not limited to Smartsheet, Excel, First Data Bank, AS400, Stibo, SharePoint, Salesforce, Flokzu, Sequel Viewpoint, and Tableau).
- Uses knowledge of our systems and analytic tools to determine/implement/train others on process improvement initiatives to increase our efficiency.
- Makes IT system design recommendations and completes user acceptance testing.
- Using their broad understanding of all of our item data fields, questions requests that seem out of alignment.
- Coordinates with Purchasing on replacement and substitute items.
- Works closely with external suppliers and our internal supplier relations department to expedite the item add process.
- Works with other item add counterparts to manage the New Item Request group mailbox.
- Compiles and enters acquisition cost and customer pricing for new and replacement items.
- Gathers and verifies regulatory information including labels and SDS to maintain compliance.
- Obtains product images and necessary product attributes for our customer facing website.
- Provides support to Marketing/Sales/Purchasing to maintain policies, procedures, and communication to inform customers of when new items with inventory are established at the distribution centers.
- Inputs data to our internal mainframe systems (Stibo/AS400) and monitors process of approvals through the systems and cross functional teams for new/replacement items, working with departments including QA, Tax, Pricing, Transportation, Global Trade, Merchandising and Global Prescription Management.
- Reviews product attributes to ensure accuracy and consistency across product lines.
- Communicates changes and modifications of business requirements to stakeholders.
- Takes a leadership role on data clean-up projects, being proactive and thoughtful, carefully cleaning up issues with existing data.
- Compiles reports including queries from computer system; develops and maintains spreadsheets based on these queries.
- Proactively cross train on other roles and provide backup support to other members of the team.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required or combination of experience, education and training which would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience providing business analytics in a medium-large company.
- Understanding of distribution supply chain business processes
- Knowledge of various business systems/applications (ERP, Purchasing, Accounting, and Warehouse Management Systems)
- Exceptional communication and project management skills to ensure all parties involved in our processes clearly understand their tasks.
- Excellent prioritization and impediment removal skills.
- Strong business analytical skills with thorough understanding of how to identify and interpret raw data and turn it into something meaningful and relevant.
- Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills to ensure no details get overlooked.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel advanced functions including Xlookup and pivot table functions, conditional formatting and extensive logic functions.
- Strong computer typing skills.
