ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to the following:
- Supervise and lead a team of Non-Sterile Compounding Technicians, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Oversee and participate in the compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous medications and products, ensuring accuracy, precision, and compliance with established guidelines.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, quality control, and other relevant departments to ensure proper documentation, record-keeping, and reporting of compounded medications. Communicates with departments to align processes and ensure any issues are addressed promptly.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for compounding processes, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of compounding materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels for uninterrupted operations.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to hazardous materials handling procedures.
- Provide guidance and training to technicians on compounding techniques, equipment usage, and safety procedures.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure routine maintenance is performed on compounding equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized compounding environment, following cleanliness standards and protocols.
- Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directly supervise Non-Sterile Compounding Technicians. This includes, but not limited to the following:
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Recommends disciplinary action when needed and participates in departmental HR concerns.
- Ensure that production schedules are met, and production goals are achieved.
- Supervises the day-to-day activities of pharmacy technicians.
- Perform administration duties such as performance evaluations, timekeeping, corrective actions, and promotions for direct reports.
- Develop direct reports through on-the-job assessments and 1:1 meetings.
- Participates in the recruiting process. Interviews candidates and works with the HR department.
- Responsibilities include hiring, promoting, training, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Builds and enhances a work environment that is inclusive and engaging.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- College degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical compounding, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience (indirect experience as a Lead Compounding Technician may substitute supervisory experience).
- In-depth knowledge of compounding principles, techniques, and regulations.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical standards and regulations USP 795, 800.
- Strong understanding of hazardous materials handling and safety protocols.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is required.
- State license as a Pharmacy Technician is in good standing.

Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, also the ability to lift 40 lbs. objects from the floor is required. The employee must utilize proper PPE, including but not limited to scrubs, bouffant cap, beard cover, shoe covers, gloves, N-95 mask, safety glasses, lab gown, full-body coverall, full-face and/or half-face respirators while performing their daily tasks in Non-Sterile Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Lab controlled environments.
