Covia is looking for a dynamic Project Engineer who will have a positive impact on the Engineering Team at its Wedron, IL location. As a Project Engineer, you will plan, monitor, and manage internal projects from initiation through completion ensuring projects are completed within time and budgetary constraints. The Project Engineer will support and assure projects are executed according to Covia Standards, while maintaining positive solution-oriented, collaborative, and successful operations.
The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:
- Execute the plant’s capital plan to achieve the desired results in the approved schedule and budget. Ensure deadlines are met, resolve and track progress of all related projects.
- Carries out varied engineering assignments requiring general familiarity with broad field of engineering and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other fields.
- Ability to problem solve using a combination of standard methodologies, processes and procedures acquires and/or developed in previous assignments or best practices.
- Participates in planning and/or preparation of technical electrical and mechanical specs for internal review to achieve prescribed objectives.
- Ability to perform technical bid analysis and make purchase recommendations.
- Prepares or assist in the preparation of detailed designs including calculations and finished drawings and/or the review of vendor drawings for conformance to specifications.
- Ability to complete cost estimates and project schedules as well as ensure the timeliness in the completion of projects of high quality within budget.
- Familiarity with computerized methods of design is essential.
- Manages relationships with stakeholders and coordinates/optimizes resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical, Structural, Civil or Chemical Engineer required.
- 3 years related experience; construction experience a plus.
- Certified Project Management Professional a plus.
- Experience in managing or supporting multiple projects and initiatives.
- Able to demonstrate project management leadership as evidenced by % of project complete on time and on budget.
- Strong influencing and consultative skills and are able to hold project teams accountable to deliver/exceed expectations.
- Demonstrate ability to debottleneck, identify and anticipate project risks and formulate mitigating actions, and reformulate plans as needs arise to stay on track.
- Basic understanding of process, mechanical, civil and electrical engineering in plants.
- Skilled in relevant design calculations and methods in your area of expertise.
- Detail oriented, data driven, problem solver with high level of organizational skills.
- Critical thinking skills to evaluate alternative ideas and be able to bring the best idea forward.
- Skilled at conveying technical information to plant personnel and corporate teams.
- Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office Programs, (Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint)
