What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Data Engineer position at Cox Automotive?
The Lead Data Engineer is responsible for supporting the Cox Automotive Financial Business Intelligence team on the Oracle Business Intelligence Platform (OBIEE). This role will help to translate new requirements from our business stakeholders into technical requirements as well as implement the necessary data driven solution in support of Revenue and Financial Business Intelligence solutions.
The Lead Data Engineer will serve as a designer and developer of ETL Code in ODI12C. The Lead Data Engineer will directly interact with the team's product owner to determine their analytical needs and overall priority of their request. In addition, they will partner closely with Agile Team Leadership, Enterprise Architects, Software / Platform Engineers, and Business Users to deliver the Business Intelligence reporting solution.
This individual will rely on application and business process knowledge and prior implementation experience to make sound decisions to plan and accomplish goals.
This role requires a solid technical understanding of Financial Applications such as Oracle EBS, Oracle Business Intelligence and Oracle Data Integrator 12C for BI Aps.
Core Requirements:
• Solid experience with development on Oracle Data Integrator 12C as part of the Oracle BI Aps Suite
• Knowledge of the Oracle Business Intelligence Application
• Oracle Database experience
• Past Knowledge/ Experience with Data Warehousing concepts
• Ability to understand Data requirements and translate them into ETL Driven
Technical Requirements
• Good understanding of analytical SQL functions and PL SQL/SQL
• Ability to work within an Agile delivery framework using Rally
• Understanding of Financial Processes and Systems are essential (AR, AP, Supply Chain, Order Management, Revenue etc.)
• Good communication skills
Specific Responsibilities:
• Design and Develop ODI code in support of new Business Intelligence Solutions in a Data Warehouse using the Oracle 12C BI Apps suite.
• Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in application features, capabilities, and business rules.
• Participate in the daily stand-ups, sprint planning meetings, retrospectives, and release train planning meetings.
• Perform work within an Agile development team and foster a team mindset with all delivery team members to work towards shared goals and objectives.
• Partner with Product Owners and Business Users to understand their needs and develop innovative solution options that balance timeliness, scope, complexity, and cost.
• Work closely with BI Architects and Data/Software Engineers to estimate levels of effort for platform changes.
• Assist in solving day-to-day problems with the OBIEE platform as users submit problem tickets.
• Follow SDLC processes and standards.
• Knowledgeable in areas of business analysis, including requirements planning, management, elicitation, communication, documentation, and solution validation.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 6 years of working experience.
• 3 years of design/development experience with Oracle Data Integrator 12C within the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) as part of the BI Aps Suite.
• 2 years of design/development experience in a complex Enterprise Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence development environment.
• 2 years of experience with Snowflake or other similar ETL Applications.
• 2 years of experience with Agile Product Development.
• Self-directed problem solver with a demonstrated ability to organize & prioritize.
• Proven analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills for interaction with business users, solution owners, and team members.
• Oracle and or AWS Cloud experience .
• Rally Agile software experience is a plus.
