Job Description
The Lead Systems Engineer on our Enterprise Logging team will oversee the planning, design, implementation, and support of core telemetry logging infrastructure. Lead Systems Engineers are expected to stay up-to-date on technology advancements in order to provide technical direction that aligns with both customer and business goals. They are expected to lead by example and provide mentorship to teammates, peers, and users. This role requires professional and clear communication with team, partners, and leadership.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert (SME) responsible for planning, designing, and implementing Splunk and other logging capabilities in a large and complex environment
- Develop, update, and maintain logging guidelines, operational processes, and governance standards within a framework of Observability principles
- Mentoring and collaborating with team members across adjacent services, capacities, and groups
- Perform root cause analysis, recommend and implement tactical and strategic solutions to problems
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and analyze the overall health of our logging infrastructure and related capabilities
- Embody and reinforce the culture and mission of company core values
What We Look For (Minimum)
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience with Splunk in ALL of the following areas:
- Implementation and support of processes related to onboarding data,
- Configuration audits,
- Building data models,
- Summary data reports,
- Expertise with Search Processing Language (SPL),
- Advanced search analytics
- Experience with various event ingestion methods and related products and technologies including Cribl Stream, Syslog, DB Connect, Universal Forwarder (UF) Agent, HTTP Event Collector, and other log agents
- Ability to automate global, multi-site solutions with standard automation tools and techniques
- Working knowledge of Linux, general networking topics such as SSL, load balancing, routing, firewall rules, and other common network protocols
- Ability to create architectural diagrams to support integrations and projects
- Strong communication skills across multiple audiences including teammates, users, service owners, and leadership
- Experience guiding team members in the use of strategic telemetry tools through education and guidance
