Accountant

Full Time | Salary

Compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete. Perform any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. May also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other workers. Compile and post employee time and payroll data. May compute employees time worked, production, and commissions. May compute and post wages and deductions. May prepare paychecks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare customer billings and A/R collection.
  • Preparation of invoices, account statements, and other financial documents according to established Company procedures.
  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
  • Communicate with Customers and Supplier representatives to manage and maintain accounts receivable and payable.
  • Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
  • Access computerized financial information to answer general questions, as well as those related to specific accounts.
  • Operate 10-key calculator, computers, and copy machines to perform calculations and produce documents.
  • Create Excel worksheet models.
  • Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in customer and vendor records.
  • Perform general office duties such as filing, answering telephones, greeting guests, and handling routine correspondence.
  • Receive payments by checks, credit cards or automatic debits and properly record the cash receipt to the customer’s account using accounting software.
  • Preparation and recording of bank deposits by compiling data, verifying and balancing receipts, sending cash, checks, or other forms of payment to banks.
  • Reconcile records of bank transactions with internal accounting records to ensure accuracy.
  • Match purchase orders and receiving documents with vendor invoices and record the necessary information.
  • Communicate payments status with vendors.
  • Prepare checks for signature by attaching documents supporting the cash disbursement.
  • Post payroll to General Ledger.
  • Weekly Reconciliations of Prepaids, Fixed Assets, and Work Orders to ensure accuracy
  • Monthly Reconciliations of AP, AR and Inventory Subledgers to GL Module
  • Monthly Accrual Entries to include PTO, Payroll and Payables Accrual
  • Assist in the preparation of month-end reports and transactions and in the preparation of financial statements and other reports.
  • Support the Chief Financial Officer in the preparation for, and execution of, the Quarterly Reviews and Annual Audit as needed.
  • Reconciliation of monthly company credit card statements.
  • Other job duties may be assigned as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five (5) years’ experience with increasing responsibilities including extensive experience in accounting for payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Experience in computerized accounting software; specifically, MAS200, and SAGE.
  • Proficient in creating Crystal Reports from MAS Account System.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures. The ability to manage files, records, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites.
  • The employee must be comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Responsible for helping to safeguard and account for all company assets and equipment.
  • May represent company interests to customers, vendors, employees, and other external contacts. Does not have contract authority to sign contracts and agreements.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Four (4) Year University Degree with emphasis in accounting or four to six years related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary : $48,800 - $61,800
