Environmental Scientist/NEPA Specialist
Oklahoma City, OK
CP&Y has an immediate career opportunity for an experienced Environmental Scientist/NEPA Specialist in our Oklahoma City office. The Environmental Scientist/NEPA Specialist will work closely with our Environmental Planning & Permitting and Engineering teams to support projects in Oklahoma and Texas.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze social, economic, and environmental data used to inform alternative development and assess impacts
- Prepare/assist with NEPA documents, including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements
- Provide support for technical studies and prepare environmental technical reports and permits
- Prepare/support the development of public involvement materials (notices, exhibits and other materials for public meetings & hearings)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or higher in a field related to planning or environmental sciences
- Five years of practical experience with project development under NEPA
- Proficiency in one or more technical specialty (wetland delineation, threatened/endangered species, noise, historic/cultural resources or socio-economic studies)
- Experience on Oklahoma DOT projects preferred
- Some travel may be required
The successful candidate will also posses the following knowledge and skills:
- Understanding of federal and state regulations including the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act/wetland regulations, and other environmental policies
- Familiarity with Federal Highway Administration and State DOT regulations
- Experience preparing outreach materials for public involvement
- Proficient in technical writing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
- Ability to work collaboratively with other team members in various offices
- Must be able to review and interpret engineering design plans
