Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary This position will work closely with the Vice Chair of Research and the directors of the Division of Clinical. Research, to support the day-to-day operations of the research infrastructure of the department. This person must possess an understanding of the research and interests of all research-active investigators in the department, with the goal of connecting investigators to funding opportunities, potential collaborators, and tools or activities to support their research. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Works with faculty, grants management team, and scientific editors to ensure appropriate support of preliminary analyses and proposal development for timely submission of competitive funding opportunities, especially training and large project grants. Tracks grants, manuscripts, invited talks, etc. as metrics of research success. Oversees the coordination of shared departmental research resources, including tissue biobanks, data analysis support, and cores. Promotes departmental research and its research infrastructure at meetings and workshops to facilitate faculty recruitment and collaborations. Interfaces with the Office of Technology Management to protect and promote intellectual property developed in the department. Leads research operations-based investigations to improve the processes supporting the research divisions in the department. Works with the Development Office to communicate research projects for potential investments. Connects research staff to development opportunities, including relevant workshops and conferences. Works with faculty to recipients of training grants to ensure resources are available to measure success and meet milestones. Helps the VCR develop relationships with new funding agencies to expand the research portfolio of the department Preferred Qualifications Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated Microsoft office suite abilities. Required Qualifications Master’s Degree or PhD in basic or clinical science plus five years or more of experience in research project management and five years plus of experience in both basic and clinical research. Grade G14 Salary Range $70,300.00 - $120,000.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
