A Correctional Officer spends most of their time interacting and interfacing with incarcerated individuals in a state prison environment. Our mission is to facilitate the successful reintegration of the individuals in our care back to their communities and equip them with the tools to be drug‐free, healthy, and employable members of society. We do this by providing education, treatment, and rehabilitative programs, all in a safe and humane environment.
Correctional Officers (CO) make an impact! COs are in the unique position of being able to respond to situations in seconds. COs can face fast paced and challenging workplace situations. They learn and utilize skills such as communication, punctuality, teamwork, and support. They enhance public safety and promote successful community reintegration.

Minimum Qualifications
AGE
At least 20 YEARS of age at the time of application and 21 YEARS of age at the time of appointment to the Academy.
EDUCATION
Graduation from a U.S. high school, G.E.D. or equivalent from a U.S. institution, or a California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE) certificate is required, or possession of a college degree (Associate of Arts or higher) from an accredited U.S. college or university.
CITIZENSHIP
Be a citizen of the U.S. or legal permanent resident.
BACKGROUND
As a minimum requirement, a thorough background investigation must be conducted prior to a candidate’s appointment or training as a Correctional Peace Officer. Additionally, must have no felony convictions and eligible to own/possess a firearm.
