Responsibilities
How Will You Contribute to the Company?
As a member of the team, you will work with a group of extremely high-performing and innovative Engineers who design, implement, and support world-class end-to-end solutions for Cloud-managed Wireless WAN edge infrastructure utilizing SD-WAN principles. You will get the opportunity to work with the best and brightest engineers using cutting-edge technologies to deliver features that make a difference and delight our customers.
What Will You Do?
- Contribute to the day-to-day operations associated with operating and maintaining an R&D lab environment (servers, network, topologies).
- Install, provision, and provide initial configuration of resources supporting the engineering lab function, such as routers, switches, servers, power distribution, and cabling. Administer and maintain deployed lab resources. Assist in the relocation, storage, or decommissioning of resources.
- Partner closely with peers and lab users to troubleshoot or resolve issues. Participate with principals and managers on projects and initiatives, as needed. Develop and maintain rapport with labs’ other service providers in support of lab user success.
- Be a principal in the evolution of the lab infrastructure. Contribute to advanced lab service capabilities.
- Facilitate the resolution of request tickets submitted by the engineering team. Assure achievement of GLO service level agreements.
- Coach other members of the support team, sharing technical and customer knowledge in a helpful and timely fashion.
- Comply with lab policies and best practices to assure a safe and efficient lab environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking or equivalent, with a minimum of three to five (3-5) years of hands-on networking experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Willing to work onsite during normal business hours; be available for scheduled on-call service to support the infrastructure and customers, when needed. Must be willing and able to reach with hands and arms, bend, and lift or move equipment
- Experience with server architecture and hardware. (Dell, HPE, Lenovo, SuperMicro)
- Practiced experience in a VMware infrastructure environment. (ESXi, vCenter)
- Experience administering Linux or other Unix (BSD) systems; virtualization (KVM, libvert); containers (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with networked services. (DNS, NTP, PXE, DHCP, NFS)
- Useful experience administering and troubleshooting Windows servers and services in an engineering environment
- Working experience with L1, L2, and L3 networking and related technologies. Hands-on configuration and operational knowledge of more than one of the following elements: routers, switches, and firewalls. Experience with optical fiber, distribution, and cable management systems
- Have the ability to read, write, and debug automation (sh, bash, powershell, python) and/or configuration management vehicles (Ansible)
- Demonstrated ability to succeed both independently and in a team context; ability to manage multiple efforts in a fast-paced environment. Possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a drive to deliver on commitments
- Be highly motivated, self-starter, and possess the ability to work independently to plan, identify problems, and produce results
- Technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Possess an ability to explain technical concepts and provide guidance to lab users & staff
Bonus Points:
- Hands-on experience on Network Routers and switches
- Hands on Experience in configuring vPC, Intel 10G,25G, 40G, and 100G interfaces
- Good troubleshooting expertise
- Bringing up the Setup (i.e. Rack, Stack)
- Knowledge of OpenStack deployments, FloatingIP, Provider Network, and Tenant Network
- Manage VMs through VMware vCenter Cluster
- Knowledge of KVM
- Knowledge of Linux Administration
- Knowledge and configuration through CIMC/iLo etc.
- Hands-on experience in changing faulty drives (HDD, SSD)
- Hands-on experience in installing SRIOV cards on DELL servers
- Hands-on experience in boot flashing the intel drivers
- Hands-on experience in procurement when there is a need on the HW parts
- Some expertise in configuring the routing, switching between the Testbeds own by the team
- Hands-on working experience in HWs Servers like (HPE, DELL, and Super-Micro Servers)
- Ability to setup the end-end network topology
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve networking problems
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project requirements
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis
- Work within a small multi-disciplined Agile team to design, implement, monitor, and support solutions for managing wireless WAN network devices
