Summary: Craig Technologies has an opening for a Control Systems Engineer at Kennedy Space Center, Florida to support the development of a new launch platform in support of NASA’s deep space program. This position will provide support to the Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) project located at Kennedy Space Center, FL. NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) is the next generation rockets that will be the largest ever built. SLS will provide foundation for missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. The individual is expected to work collaboratively with mechanical engineers as well as representatives from NASA and KSC Launch Operations.
Role Overview:
- Develop, review and coordinate documents with suppliers, other disciplines and customers. Coordinates technical issues with Senior engineers.
- Proficient with basic engineering deliverables such as drawings, specifications and calculations.
- Knowledgeable of major regulations and industry codes and standards applicable to Instrumentation and Controls.
- Properly interpret and apply codes & standards and customer design requirements in the preparation of Control Systems design products.
- Marking up Piping & Instrument Diagrams and Logic Diagrams (P&IDs) for control and instrumentation requirements, developing instrument data sheets, and supporting generation of Material Requisitions.
- Contribute to maintaining the project's instrument database using automated tools and has knowledge of the applicability of information to be populated in the instrument database.
- Achieve work process improvement and promote continuous work process improvement.
- Champion non-proprietary electronic data interchange and integrate automation technology where ever practical.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills.
Basic Qualifications:
- US Citizenship.
- BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Computer or Electro-Mech engineering with one year of relevant experience; or MS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Computer or Electro-Mech engineering.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
- Must have one year of experience in Control Systems Engineering developing documentation for Final Design.
- Familiar with facility design (e.g. industrial, nuclear, nuclear waste or defense facilities).
- Familiar with Microsoft office programs and other computer programs.
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities along with effective presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint.
- EIT / FE Registration.
