GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Accountable for leading, directing and managing site operations to ensure consistent high level service quality and client satisfaction, profitable cost efficient operations, and compliance with company policies and procedures and other regulatory guidelines. Reviews operating budgets for revenues and expenses and monitors compliance to contracts.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Lead, direct and manage site P&D operations to ensure that the operations staff executes service agreements at, or above the client's standards.
  • Ability to consistently recruit Owner Operators for to meet the needs of the branch local and OTR CDL truck and communicate the benefits of driving with Crane Cartage and Freight Services.
  • Drive a high level of engagement with drivers, act as their liaison with the company, addressing issues, resolving discrepancies, understanding their expectations
  • Manage the relationship with drivers and stations through multiple mediums to foster a healthy environment to support driver and owner operator retention.
  • Conducts safety meetings with employees, drivers, and owner operators, leads safety committee for P&D, and ensures safety inspections are completed.
  • Manage driver and owner operator compliance
  • Ensure all DOT and applicable state regulations are followed
  • Monitor Daily and Weekly Hours of Service, review and audit driver logs
  • Meet Accident, Injury and CSA goals through prevention
  • Create a Safety First Culture -- lead employee engagement
  • Lead company safety programs and communicate safety expectations
  • Address safety nonconformance and violations/incidents
  • Collaborate with sales to grow P&D revenue within the market
  • Maximize profitability through superior client service, effective and prompt communications and follow-up on all pending matters with the client.
  • Plan and monitor daily staffing schedules and adjusts accordingly to ensure adequate staffing levels that support operational demands and business objectives.
  • Manage revenue and expenses to budget constraints.
  • Responsible to train, develop and motivate employees to peak performance and growth in their knowledge and responsibilities
  • Ability to manage the financial aspects of the department (purchasing, budget preparation and review, financial reporting, and monitoring expenses).
  • Oversee accounts receivable, including client invoicing and collections, as needed
  • Process incoming vendor invoices (cost of transportation and overhead expenses), as needed
  • Analyze market trends to further develop scalable and strategic operations practices
  • Execution of the applicable KPI’s per company standard.
  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Talking, hearing and using hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • Walking within the warehouse and inspecting freight
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Computer Literate
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web based and job specific software applications
  • Ability to manage the financial aspects of the department (purchasing, budget preparation and review, financial reporting and monitoring expenses).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED Required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum seven years related experience required
  • Minimum six years industry experience required
  • Minimum five years supervisory experience required
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

  • Professional certification may be required in some areas
