What You Will Do:
The Accountant intern will perform moderate accounting-related activities involving the general ledger, profit and loss statement preparation, and ad hoc projects supporting the accounting department. Activities include but are not limited to preparing and keying and examining journal entries, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, design and analysis of ad hoc reports and testing system integrations.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare, review and record journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Develop and analyze ad hoc financial reporting needs within the company.
- Perform daily, monthly and quarterly closing procedures.
- Perform timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations.
- Investigate unusual transactions and fluctuations and determine appropriate action if necessary.
- Perform special accounting and finance projects and analysis designs to gather data and ultimately improve operational efficiencies.
- Interface with other departments to support projects

What We Are Looking For:
- Must be a rising Sophomore or above at an accredited four-year college or university.
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Previous work or classroom experience in one of the following is preferred: Accounting
- Employer immigration sponsorship is not available for this role.
- Must be able to work M-F; 8 am – 5 pm onsite at Rent-A-Center’s Corporate office in Plano.
Summer 2023 Internship candidates will take part in a ten week program onsite at our corporate headquarters in Plano, Texas, running from June 5 to August 11, 2023. After your application and initial screening discussion, candidates will be aligned to interview and receive offers to the specific areas that suit their skillset and interests. In addition to your day-to-day tasks, RAC interns will participate in volunteer initiatives, C-Suite Roundtable Q&A, Coworker Resource Group networking events & more!
