The Benefits Administrator assists in the day-to-day management of our clients by working closely with an Account Manager (who serve as the primary point of contact for a block of accounts). This specific block of accounts would be held by one of our directors and other senior leaders at the company.
The lines of coverage could include: Medical, Dental, Vision, Spending Accounts and some Group Life and AD&D insurance, disability and voluntary benefits.
Job Responsibilities
1. Works closely with Account Managers and Benefits Consultants to prepare and coordinate the annual renewal for each client in addition to assisting the account manager with the open enrollment process (preparing employee communications, handouts, worksheets, scheduling the carriers and ordering supplies)
2. Assists in the marketing of the Annual benefits renewal to the applicable carriers and the carrier installation process.
3. Develops employee communication and enrollment materials for client distribution.
4. Assists with understanding, interpreting and clearly delivering claims experience reporting and data to clients, when appropriate.
5. Oversees client's benefits accounts, including but not limited to, new development, internal and external communication, support and maintenance issues.
6. Manages ongoing client and/or employee inquiries and accurately maintains databases and portals
7. Understands client business, issues, and needs through proactive face-to-face (when appropriate) client visits, video conferences and phone contact to maintain a positive relationship.
8. Provides support and assistance, when needed, to other Account Managers on larger projects.
9. Assists in acting as escalation point for resolution of non-routine issues. Identifies root cause and communicates resolution to client.
10. Ensures data accuracy of all databases, portals and presentations provided to the Account Manager.
11. Other duties as requested
Required Skills and Experience
1. 2 years of group insurance experience or servicing accounts/account management preferred but not required.
2. Bachelor’s degree preferred but High School Diploma required
3. Current Life and Health Insurance License is required or ability to obtain it within 90-180 days of employment.
4. Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships at all levels of an organization
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills with an interest in learning facilitating and presenting skills
6. Organized with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks simultaneously and adapt to changes
7. Customer/Client focused
8. Computer proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams and Adobe Acrobat
9. Proactive work ethic
10. Consistently represent Creative Benefits, Inc. in a professional manner
Supervisory Responsibility
As of now, this position is an individual contributor. The person in this role would eventually grow into assisting with training and mentoring of new benefits administrators or into an account manager role.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, and photocopiers.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
There is no regular anticipated travel for this position. Travel is mostly designated for account managers and is primarily local during the business day.
