Job Posting for Lighting Designer at Creative Sound and Lighting
Creative Sound and Lighting (CSL) is a full service event production and consulting company based in central NC. Our goal is to provide our clients with an experience where they can see the vision for their event brought to life through technical and logistical production support. Our Creative Crew go above and beyond to ensure the highest level of quality in the areas of audio, lighting, video, staging and scenic.
We have some of the most talented and skilled professionals already on our team and always looking to grow. We are looking to add a full time lighting technician and designer to set up, operate, and maintain lighting inventory for in person, hybrid, and broadcast events.
Responsibilities
Act as point of contact for client questions related to lighting or general needs
Act as a site lead if needed
Prepare, set up, test, and maintain inventory of automated, conventional, and LED fixtures both in the shop and on event site
Design lighting plots, program, and operate console for in person, hybrid, and broadcast events
Confirm all equipment is up to date with proper software and firmware
Test and Prep automated, conventional, and LED fixtures for events
Evaluate units that need repair and assist with repairs as necessary
Collaborate and assist other team members and departments as needed
Quickly work to resolve technical issues when they arise
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
General knowledge of computer networking and signal flow.
Technical expertise, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
Must be computer literate in order to work with required software
Working knowledge of vectorworks is preferred
Working knowledge of both Hog, Grandma, and/or Avolites consoles preferred
Working knowledge of lighting theory
Professional attitude and strong work ethic
Well rounded knowledge and skills in all areas of production preferred
Strong ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve in a time-sensitive production environment
Consistent “can do” attitude
A team player with excellent communication skills
Attention to detail and ability to adapt to change
High school diploma or similar. Associate degree or 2 years experience preferred
Physical demands
Must be able to bend, climb stairs, and continuously stand or walk for extended periods
Ability to work more than 8 hours in a single shift
Must be able to lift to 75 pounds.
Must be able to communicate effectively by listening and in both written and verbal forms.
Travel Requirements
Travel required as needed both locally, nationally, and at times international
