The DSP Culinary Specialist position is responsible for the Creative Works’ Culinary Curriculum which provides individuals with the culinary experience that promotes personal growth through the development of self-esteem, self-confidence, and independence. The DSP Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing and directing the preparation of food to be served along with complying with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards. The Culinary Specialist must follow established food production procedures and ensure all participants are educated in proper food procedures as well.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares and directs the preparation of food using established procedures.
- Cultivates and develops a curriculum for participants to work in the kitchen to collaborate on culinary projects.
- Keeps the work area neat and clean at all times and maintains the equipment used in food preparation.
- Ensures food stored properly and safely, marking the date and item.
- Assists with ensuring that culinary projects are completed correctly following the standard recipes.
- Assists Cultivation Works to grow produce for use in the culinary program. This may include watering of plants, picking crops, planting, and any other task as requested.
- Transport individuals, as needed, using personal vehicle (i.e., to appointments, work, etc.)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop curriculum and provide multi-level skill training based upon the Culinary Program assessment.
- Design and develop level appropriate cooking plans based upon the Culinary Curriculum.
- Maintain accurate records including daily logs, individual files, and accident and incident reports.
- Maintain open and focused communication with team members regarding goals and progress of program participants.
- Comply with all CW policies.
- Be sure any facility where individuals use CW services are kept clean and safe.
- Ability to remain patient and empathetic.
- Ability to remain flexible and quickly adapt to changing circumstances.
- Must be able to problem solve and offer solutions.
- Teamwork oriented, but also able to work independently.
- Ability to adapt communication methods according to the individual’s need.
