PICKING OPERATOR
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Operators in the Distribution Center are the primary handlers of customer orders and directly affect customer delivery times. Picking Operators in the shipping department are responsible for replenishing warehouse locations, picking, packing and shipping on-line customer orders and loading trucks for shipment.
Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2:30pm (plus mandatory peak season overtime)
KEY PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
- Daily, weekly and monthly productivity determined by number of completed transactions
- Ship all orders within 48 hours of receipt
- Accuracy and Quality metrics measured on a 2-week basis
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pick from primary locations via walking pick paths and sort customer orders onto carts
- Operates carts, pallets, pallet jacks
- Assemble product containers, crates and boxes
- Uses wireless voice pick unit to perform transactions
- Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers
- Confer and correspond with TGW management to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to shipping specifications
- Provide assistance to all warehouse associates and other departments as needed
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong attention to detail and good organization skills
- Self motivated with positive work attitude
- Basic math skills
- The ability to lift up to 20 lbs. repeatedly and 50-75 lbs. on occasion
- The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order in a logical manner
- The ability to operate basic functions on a hand held unit
- Flexible work availability, including evenings and Saturdays for mandatory seasonal overtime
- The ability to work a full scheduled shift on your feet; standing, walking, climbing ladders
Preferred:
- Previous stock room, warehouse or distribution center experience
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems a plus
