Position Summary
The AVP of Unix and Linux is responsible for all aspects of Credit One Banks’ servers running Linux or Unix operating system and related hardware. Recommends, implements, and maintains system architectures. Will play a technical leadership role in the support of data center operations across multiple sites.
The ideal candidate will be a leader, self-motivated, and articulate. Recognized as an expert with RedHat, Solaris, Ubuntu, and automation technologies (Ansible), and have a proven history of using management and monitoring tools.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
Lead and mentor the team of Unix/Linux systems engineers and administrators
Must be able to design and architect solutions related to NFS, DNS, SAMBA
Must be able to work independently to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, identify, and isolate technical issues.
Must be willing to take ownership of the issue analysis and resolution efforts and commit to "doing what it takes" to resolve technical issues regardless of the effort or timeframe required. Triaging as necessary for production, QA & development environments.
Provide technical guidance on Credit One Bank’s server environment.
Support the installation and configuring of HP hardware and operating systems.
Intermediate knowledge of SAN technologies and practices
Proactively investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues by working with multiple groups both on-shore and off-shore.
Evaluate and report on workload and capacity of the environment.
Interact with all recording and voice vendors to insure adequate service, support, and maintenance.
Lead the team to maintain accurate documentation for the environment, equipment, and circuit inventory.
Position Requirements
8 years of experience using Unix/Linux operating systems in a multi-site environment
8 years of experience managing software updates and patching
10 years of experience troubleshooting TCP/IP and Ethernet networks
3 years of experience with RedHat Satellite and/or Ansible
5 years of recent *nix system administration and engineering experience
Knowledge of Redhat, Ubuntu, and Solaris
Knowledge of VMware environment and the ecosystem
Preferred
RHCE or RHCA
Experience with configuring and advanced troubleshooting and tuning RedHat and Solaris systems
Experience with configuring and Managing Automation tools like Ansible, Satellite, Puppet, Chef
Experience with managing and using source repositories and tools such as git, github, gtilab etc.
Strong ability to manage vendor relationships, including contracts, negotiations, and service levels.
