Summary of Job Duties:
The Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Program Specialist assists the Traffic Safety Program Manager in the coordination of DRE certifications and re-certifications, and in developing, monitoring and conducting a variety of training and education programs to include: Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), Drugged Driving (DD), and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) Program. The DRE Program Specialist assists the Traffic Safety Program Manager in the implementation of programs, projects and other administrative activities of the program by assisting with course facilitation, certification, management, and student enrollment; providing logistical support for program activities, and data management.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience: Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval of the Director of the Criminal Justice Institute.
1. DRE certification (current or expired) or substantial knowledge of the DRE program and requirements.
2. Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
3. Knowledge of the criminal justice field through education and/or experience.
4. 5 years of Law Enforcement experience with Standardized Field Sobriety Testing certifications.
5. Standardized Field Sobriety Testing certification

Additional Information:
To upper $40,000s depending upon education and experience.
