Job Purpose
Behavioral Health Professionals (BHP) will work with children age 0-20 who have developmental disabilities or skill deficits in our Rehabilitative Community Support program. Behavioral Health Professionals work in homes and in the community. Behavioral Health Professionals implement specific treatment plan goals and assist children with their communication skills, social skills, and daily living skills.
Responsibilities:
· Demonstrate strong collaboration with service providers involved with client care through regular contact around provision of services
· Ensure services are provided to clients in a manner consistent with trauma-informed practices, emphasizing strengths, privacy, individuality, choice, and cultural differences
· Provide services that empower client and family system to utilize and build their strengths, resources, and supports to meet goals as independently as possible
· Provides services in an ethical manner by maintaining professional boundaries with the client and in working within the role as Behavioral Health Professional
· Fully participate in required supervisions and trainings by coming prepared, actively engaging, and documenting as required
Work Requirements:
· Attending scheduled appointments.
· Completing progress notes in the last 15 mins. of shift for each session.
· Come to each shift prepared and with a goal-centered purpose.
· Develop therapeutic relationships with clients and their families while maintaining professional boundaries.
· Pass a State of Maine, Child Protective and Department of Motor Vehicle.
Qualifications:
· Must be 18 or older
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Valid driver’s license
· Reliable and insured transportation
· Strong verbal and oral communication skills
· Be able to make well-reasoned decisions both independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
· Behavioral Health Professionals will work in client’s homes and in the community.
· A minimum of once weekly travel to the Pittsfield office and availability to attend supervision.
· Must be able to work in homes with pets and in homes where there is cigarette smoking when Behavioral Health Professionals are not present.
