What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Manager position at CrossWinds Church?
CrossWinds Church occupies 35 acres of beautiful land in Livermore, CA. Roughly 1/3 of this is currently developed and in use, and the remaining acres are utilized for walking paths while awaiting future development.
The Facilities Manager is responsible for keeping the campus buildings, land, and infrastructure running smoothly and looking good to support staff, church community members, event attendees, and on-site residents. The responsibilities of this position change with great frequency depending on the season and the current needs. A high degree of adaptability and efficiency is required. This position involves supervising the custodial staff and working closely with all other ministry departments.

1. Complete handyman type projects in a timely manner, but also determine the priority level of upcoming tasks to accomplish the most important projects first.
2. Ensure comfortable and appropriate gathering spaces are available by adhering to a regular maintenance schedule to diagnose problems before they become an issue; respond to problems in a timely manner; complete projects with a high degree of excellence and in keeping with the aesthetic of CrossWinds Church; lead the custodial staff to a high standard of excellence.
3. Perform the necessary administrative tasks to keep the campus running smoothly, including: pay bills on time; communicate about disruptive projects with the appropriate departments; keep accurate records.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Manage custodial staff to ensure a clean and distraction free environment.
2. Oversee landscape and landscape maintenance of entire property.
3. Oversee vehicle repair and maintenance.
4. Perform light repairs and remodels as requested.
5. Coordinate with vendors and local companies to ensure work gets done in a timely manner (i.e. landscapers and outside contractors).
6. Organize and participate in church workdays supported by volunteers
7. Monitoring and maintenance of the fire alarm, irrigation control, fountain pump system, fire sprinkler, HVAC and other controlled systems.
8. Pest control and application of pesticides or animal traps.
9. Painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC work and other small repairs
10. On-call site contact for emergency repair coordination.
11. Other general construction and labor activities.
12. Scheduling of subcontractors for facility repair and maintenance activities.
Skills
- Proven experience as facilities manager or relevant position
- Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Good analytical/critical thinking
- Relevant professional qualification will be an advantage
