Position Summary
The Institutional Research Data Analyst is responsible for assisting the IR Specialist in gathering, organizing, analyzing,
and reporting institutional data. This position would also support and/or develop databases used for existing grants,
institutional reporting, and business intelligence. This position is funded for one academic year (July 1, 2022- June 30,
2023)

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist in building and maintain Microsoft Access Desktop Databases in support of grant funded projects program
initiatives, and related institutional initiatives.
  • Write queries to extract data from desktop databases and commercial information systems using Microsoft
Access.
  • Write queries to retrieve data from student information systems and other institutional data sources and
databases.
  • Consult with IR Specialist to assist with database and data visualization that support end users to determine
system data sources or inputs, functional needs, and scope and impact of use.
  • Modify, analyze, troubleshoot, and de-bug new/existing databases.
  • Assist as needed with institution-wide business intelligence projects and initiatives.
  • Compile and maintain reports generated by other offices on campus.
  • Assist with the development questionnaires, forms and procedures for collecting data.
  • Support faculty and staff in data collection and interpretation of data
  • Work with the Information Services Department regarding the capture of key data elements from the student
information system (currently using Jenzabar).
  • Communicate project status and developments both in oral and written manner.
  • Assist in the review of peer analysis, benchmarking, and other statistical studies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the IR Data Specialist and President of Crowder College.


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Skill in creating and maintaining databases queries, forms, reports, and other tools for data collection, reporting
and other purposes.
  • Skill in troubleshooting data to resolve inaccuracies in efforts to produce valid and reliable data.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Communication and collaboration skills required to share information in both written and oral formats.
  • Skill in working in a virtual/ online environment through online meeting platforms.
  • Skilled in project management. Demonstrated experience in planning and organizing work activities while

managing multiple projects concurrently.

  • Ability to work independently, be a self-starter, and demonstrate initiative aligned with the primary function of
the job and the mission of the college.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, other professionals, staff, industry
partners, and the public.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines for reporting and data collection.
  • Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to drive an automobile and maintain a clean driving record required.
Education Requirements
• Associate’s degree in business or related experience required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a similar environment preferred but candidates with less experience may be

considered on a case by case basis.

Equipment/Software
Information Technology abilities required:

  • Skill in writing queries to retrieve data from large-scale databases (currently using Microsoft Access and SQL).
  • Experience in a Microsoft Office 365 environment using Access, Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Skilled in developing and managing data visualizations/ business intelligence tools (currently using Microsoft
Power BI).
  • Ability to operate a computer using Windows environment.
  • Ability to utilize email.
  • Previous experience with enterprise level student information systems (currently using Jenzabar) preferred.


Working Environment

  • Generally, indoors in a normal office/classroom/clinical environment with minimal exposure to temperature
changes, noise, dust or chemicals.
  • Normal college working hours but adjustment of hours involving evening and/or weekend work may be
required.
  • Travel to other office sites required as well as an occasional overnight trip.
