Systems Engineer
CSI Companies is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida. This position combines responsibilities from both technical support and IT engineering domains, requiring proficiency in designing, implementing, and maintaining the technology infrastructure within our organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, strong understanding of networking, system administration, security protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. The Systems Engineer will have excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with users at all levels. This person will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Essential Functions:
- Design, deploy, and manage server infrastructure, network components, and storage systems.
- Evaluate hardware and software solutions, considering scalability, performance, and security.
- Administer, patch, and maintain Windows servers.
- Configure and maintain Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID, Intune, DNS, DHCP, SQL, and other core services.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across various platforms.
- Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Implement network security measures and ensure data integrity.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues.
- Deploy and manage virtualization platforms (e.g., Nutanix, Cloud PCs, Hyper-V).
- Work with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) to design and maintain cloud-based solutions.
- Implement security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2) and internal policies.
- Develop and maintain backup strategies.
- Plan and test disaster recovery procedures.
- Provide technical support and assistance to end-users regarding IT systems, applications, and equipment.
- Collaborate with IT teams, developers, and end-users to understand requirements.
- Document system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
- Automate repetitive tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Create and maintain scripts for system management and monitoring.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in IT systems engineering, administration, and customer support roles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with enterprise-level systems, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Meraki, and Nutanix, SharePoint, SQL, and Jira.
Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contract employees, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Understand the organization's goals and objectives.
- Ability to recognize and manage personal behaviors to create an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical resources.
- Proven analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Certification Requirements:
- Microsoft Certified Professional in O365, Azure, Teams.
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
