POSITION PURPOSE

A member of the Human Resources (HR) team, based in the CSM corporate office, the Human Resources Specialist will collaborate with all areas within HR to assist in executing HR responsibilities in areas such as employee relations, development and engagement, compliance, benefits, payroll, HR administration and more.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Employee Relations: Provides a positive and core values-based candidate and employee experience at all times. Understands a broad perspective of both employee and business priorities and initiatives and uses that understanding in decision making. Provides basic HR guidance through knowledge of Associate Handbook, HR and company policies and procedures. Collaborates with the HR Business Partners and escalates employee concerns when necessary.
  • Development and Engagement: Supports the execution of employee recognition programs (new hires, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) and events (service milestones, holiday activities, conferences, team buildings, etc.)
  • Compliance: Maintains general knowledge of federal and state labor laws and CSM’s HR policies, practices and programs. Recommends and participates in the development and revision of policies and procedures to ensure they are necessary, efficient, and make sound business sense. Assists with and conducts HR audits as needed. Completes and responds to reporting requirements (e.g. EEO-1 Reporting) and requests for information/subpoenas. Audits, monitors and resolves issues with Form I-9 and E-Verify execution. Responsible for managing unemployment claims by providing support to property leaders for responding to unemployment claims and managing the vendor relationship. Responsible for maintaining property contact lists.
  • Benefits: Has an understanding of benefits programs and policies to support employee communication, enrollment activities, and processes. Ensures that records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Payroll: Has an understanding of payroll processing to support employee communication and standard payroll processes including updating and/or changing employee/payroll data, executing payroll audits, and
  • HR Administration: Responsible for all incoming communication to the HR department through the main phone line and email address to provide timely responses in collaboration with the appropriate HR Business Partner or HR Center of Excellence. Completes new hire processes, completes employment verifications, and provides employee information in support of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit program, vendor as needed. Supports maintenance of data within HRIS system (UKG Pro), including approving assigned workflows and processing new hires, promotions, job transfers and terminations. Conduct audits to ensure employee personnel files are retained electronically and follows up on audit findings. Assists HR Business Partners, and other functions within HR, with regular and/or special projects.
  • Policy & Procedure / Employment Law Compliance:
  • Other: Supports or takes the lead on other HR duties as assigned. Develops and maintain internal and external relationships through effective communication, and responding to requests in a timely and professional manner. Other duties as needed or assigned.

 

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

Associate’s degree or equivalent education and experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Verbal, written, and comprehensive Spanish language skills preferred.

 

Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience working with payroll/HRIS software, such as UKG Pro and Kronos time and attendance, and Microsoft Office preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work is performed primarily in the Corporate office, and may involve long periods of sitting.
  • Must be able to sit or stand at a desk for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Occasional travel to local company operations and out-of-state.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, smart phones (i.e. iPhone), multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, and other office equipment as needed
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
