What are the responsibilities and job description for the Test Engineer position at CSS1000CSSI?

Place of Performance:  Work activity will take place at the William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Responsibilities:

  • Successful candidate Performs analysis of documented user requirements and directs or assists in the design of test plans in support of user requirements for complex software/hardware applications.
  • Reviews user application system requirements documentation; designs, defines and documents unit and application test plans; transforms test plans into test scripts and executes those scripts.
  • May participate in all phases of risk management assessment and software/hardware development under the direction of a Senior Test Engineer.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper execution of test scripts and documentation of test results in test logs or defect tracking systems.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the test designs and documentation support all applicable client, agency or industry standards, time lines and budgets. Responsible for the development of test data to be used in performing the required tests.
  • Responsible that testing conclusions and recommendations are fully supported by test results, and those project managers are fully informed or testing status and application deviations from documented user requirements.
  • Responsible for/or assists in the analysis of test results, documents conclusions and makes recommendations as supported by such analysis.

Candidates to possess the following skills:

  • Development/test/validation of system test scenarios
  • Development of system test plans/procedures for use in FAA formal testing
  • Support test execution in a lab environment (E-IDS is a Formal Test Program)
  • Data analysis necessary to debug, identify issues, and verify Problem Report (PR) fixes
  • Develop and maintain Change Request (CR) Verification
  • Develop and maintain regression tests
  • Integration & Test status reporting
  • Experience in following a documented Integration and Test Development Process
  • Strong communication skills to interface with internal and external customers
  • Support government witnessed test execution (Formal Test)
  • Manage and own issues in multiple labs/deployed systems in multiple locations
  • Debug and resolve/identify software and system issues, working across the various system functions and threads
  • Write tools/productivity aids for use in integration and test
  • Create scripts/tools to automate log analysis and system recovery actions
  • Work Overtime (OT) and off hours if necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a lab environment
  • Understanding of Linux or other UNIX type operating system
  • Understanding of Jira issue reporting system
  • Support fielded systems remotely and physically (ability to travel)
  • Past Air Traffic Control (ATC) system experience preferred
  • Knowledge and proficiency of ATC Interfaces (e.g. FDIO, DASI, RVR) preferred
  • Knowledge and proficiency of web browser automation toolsets (Selenium) and experience developing and executing browser automated testing preferred
  • Knowledge and proficiency of Kibana or other data visualization and exploration tools preferred

Qualifications:

  • Desired Bachelors of Science degree in information systems or other IT degrees and 3 to 12-years of experience.
    • However, other levels of education and years of experience will be considered.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
  • Candidates who are Non-Immigrant Aliens (not a U.S. Citizen) or an Immigrant Alien (U.S. Permanent Resident-Green Card Holder) must have resided in the U.S. for a minimum of three (3) years in the last five (5) years.
