CTG is assisting a client for a Network Design Engineer!
Duration: 12 months
Pay Rate: based on experience
Your key responsibilities
This position must enable and provide reliable network designs that will allow a flawless connectivity for our people and our clients, key player for the network design teams, and an effective communicator, especially when it comes to relaying complex design challenges.
Major responsibilities and duties are:
Technical Competence:
• Design, delivery and L4 escalation support for data network services across the customers global environment. These services are
• standards based, inherently secure, innovative and aligned to business requirements.
• Create designs based on industry best practices, sound solid engineering principles while incorporating both local and global requirements
• Develop solutions design and configuration documentation to be used by the Regional Data Network and Operations teams for implementation and support.
• Provide technology expertise for all facets of data networking to enhance quality and facilitate superior solutions which meet business requirements.
• Collaborate with appropriate teams to create and gain approval on global technology standards and reference architectures on an ongoing basis
• Develop and maintain documentation for configuration guidelines and templates
• Research and keep abreast of industry trends and new technology offerings by maintaining engineering relationships with strategic vendors to ensure our technology landscape, reference architectures, designs and configuration standards stays current
• Act as a consultant to the other teams for network portfolio
• Drive and complete technical network deliverables on assigned projects
Analytical Responsibilities:
• Review and recommend network related hardware and software technologies, designs and services that will assist in the support of the firm’s global IT infrastructure
• Work with Office Solutions, Platform Infrastructure and Network teams to help provide new engineering standards for the organization and help to identify opportunities to enhance existing services
• Ensure compliance with infrastructure design methodologies during project work with both the Service Delivery and Regional Network teams
• Evaluate and recommend different types of network related hardware and software to be supported as “standard components” that will be utilized in support of infrastructure builds
• Achieve "first-pass" check of quality in product and solutions development as it relates to infrastructure
• Gain adherence to architecture standards and principles, global product-specific guidelines, and local regulatory requirements
• Provide infrastructure maintenance support for problem management and incident escalation
Skills and attributes for success
• Handle ambiguity and able to move forward with imperfect information and get things done in a rapidly changing environment
• Must be comfortable working in an environment where ideas are challenged
To qualify for the role, you must have
• 5 years of experience in Network Design teams, with a high focus on customer experience
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science/Engineering or a related discipline, plus industry accreditation or equivalent work experience
• Advanced skills in planning, designing and troubleshooting complex network environments
• Track record of customer focus, based on openness, trust, and delivering on promises
• Time management skills to manage one or more large, complex projects simultaneously
• Strong interpersonal and team working skills across matrixed client, supplier, and geographically dispersed virtual teams
• Data-guided, analytical approach with the ability to formulate and translate insights into action with measurable results.
• Excellent understanding of Office Connect product portfolio and ability to bring knowledge of this to help facilitate the growth and adoption across the regions.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information to a diverse business audience.
• Experience developing, managing, and presenting business cases and strategic plans.
Ideally, you’ll also have
• Industry accreditation like CCNA R&S, CCNP R&S, CCNA Wireless, CCNP, Meraki Wireless certifications or equivalent knowledge.
• Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities and rapid change
• Ability to work and team with a multitude of different people within and outside of IT to balance demands
• Ability to deal efficiently with escalations and difficult situations/people under pressure
• Ability to understand and integrate cultural as well as individual differences and motives and to work in virtual cross-cultural, cross-border global teams
• English language skills - excellent written and verbal communication.
