Job Summary

Deliver furniture and accessories into customer homes, generally as leader of a two-person team. Operate heavy, non-CDL trucks, primarily in the Salem area, with coverage throughout NW Oregon. Load trucks and assist with cleaning and prepping of merchandise, including basic assembly. Perform daily walk around and vehicle safety inspection, immediately reporting exceptions to the General Manager or Distribution Manager. Maintain clean trucks and outside dock area. Perform other duties as assigned. Operate in a professional, ethical and courteous manner, ensuring customer satisfaction and alignment with Company values, mission, and vision.

Essential Job Functions

  • Deliver furniture and accessories into customer homes. Each delivery team is required to set up, assemble and touch-up all furniture delivered--including, but not limited to installing all shelves, attaching or securing mirrors, plugging in electrical cords, attaching hutches to bases, bolting headboards and footboards to frames, and putting leaves in tables--at the time of delivery.
  • Unload, daily, any merchandise picked up or not delivered that day, and place in appropriate area with a fully completed Product Disposition Form.
  • Occasionally deliver and set up appliances.
  • Load trucks and assist in merchandise cleaning and preparation.
  • Face-to-face communication with customers in a friendly, courteous and professional manner. Appropriate attire will be required: solid black, blue or khaki pants or shorts in clean and good condition. The Company will provide several shirts and jacket – these must be worn, or if by exception they are not available solid, non-logo shirts may be worn. Hats must be Company provided or none worn.
  • Operate (drive) heavy (non-CDL) delivery trucks in the Salem area with occasional trips throughout a larger area of Oregon.
  • Perform daily truck safety and preventive maintenance inspections, immediately reporting exceptions to the General Manager or Distribution Manager. Inspections will include checking water and oil levels before starting the trucks each morning and completing a Pre-Trip Inspection Form before leaving the DC.
  • Clean truck interiors daily and wash exterior at least weekly.
  • Schedule and route deliveries, call customers to confirm schedule.
  • Encourage customers to allow yard sign placement, offer extended warranties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven ability to drive a heavy truck in residential and other areas
  • Valid driver’s license, and driving experience and DMV record deemed acceptable by company insurance carrier
  • Ability to push, pull and lift furniture up to 75 pounds.
  • Basic hand tool use.
  • Ability to utilize navigation systems and scheduling/routing programs.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including Saturdays and occasionally past 6:00 PM.
  • Ability to work positively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests, and criminal/background check.
  • Performs duties in a manner aligned with company mission, vision, and values

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of delivery driving experience, preferably with furniture, appliance or related merchandise.
  • Working knowledge of Spanish or Eastern European languages.
  • Knowledge of Salem and NW Oregon area.
  • Customer service experience.
