This is where you come in
We are growing at lightning speed and are seeking a Controller to create the accounting team of the future & support Cubby’s future growth! You would be a key leader within the company, with a unique opportunity to build an accounting function from the ground up! You will oversee all aspects of Cubby’s accounting functions: AP, AR, General Ledger, revenue accounting, inventory and production costing and get to build it the way you want for the future. You will bring accounting activities in-house from our great external accounting partners and will ensure we have a solid foundation to scale into the future.
This role reports to the CFO and is the main accounting leader within the company. It involves working closely with key leaders in Product, Growth, Operations and People.

Here’s what you’ll be doing
- Build the accounting foundation for the future, establishing the direction from the ground up for:
The accounting team - recommend roles & timing needed to fully transition external accounting to an in-house accounting function
Accounting policies, processes & procedures
The accounting system of the future - complete ERP evaluation process in conjunction with to-be-selected system implementation firm, documenting requirements & working to select an accounting system and execute implementation plan
Manage all accounting activities & personnel including Billing, A/R, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
Ensure efficient and accurate month-end and year-end close processes following GAAP
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Be the primary contact for 3rd party accounting partners such as accounting, tax, or other financial auditors.
Assess & enhance adequacy of internal controls
Create a roadmap for external auditor-readiness: Perform accounting gap assessment from existing accounting to identify areas of GAAP non-compliance that would be need remediation to be auditable
Here’s what we’re looking for

Meticulous attention to detail and ability to set and meet challenging deadlines
Excellent leadership, written and verbal communication, critical thinking and project management skills
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Deep expertise in GAAP accounting
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated ability to lead and scale up accounting teams, policies, processes, procedures, and accounting systems.
We hope you also have
A CPA (highly preferred) and/or MBA
Experience leading an accounting department within a high growth company
Experience through fundraising, company sale, IPO, or similar event
Experience in medical devices and/or revenue cycle management
Experience leading accounting in a publicly traded or (at a minimum) externally audited environment
Public accounting (big 4) background

Compensation: $155k-180k hiring range - Cubby offers an exciting OTE (On-Target Earnings) program to motivate and celebrate collective success in achieving company goals. The total cash compensation range listed above is inclusive of base pay & target variable pay. The target variable pay for this role is 15% of the base salary.
