Entry Level Accountant - Part-time - Work remotely

We are looking for an Entry Level Accounting Associate to support the Staff Accountant role. Accounting Associate responsibilities include entering data into QuickBooks and Excel, reviewing vendor invoices and coding them appropriately using a standardized set of guidelines and accounts, reviewing vendor statements to ensure we have received all invoices, and solving any discrepancies. Ultimately, the Accounting Associate ensures that the data in our systems are correct and completed on time. This job is 100% remote, and training will be provided via Zoom meetings. Qualified candidate must be available to work from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. Mondays to Thursdays each week, as tasks will be due during those times. We anticipate training for this position to take 6-8 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Enter sales data into QuickBooks and Excel for the week prior, utilizing a set of provided guidelines, and keep the Staff Accountant aware of any unusual records in the reports.
• Check vendor invoices for coding accuracy, and upload them into the accounting system
• Resolve billing discrepancies by comparing vendor statements to the accounting system
• Review product coding by comparing to the standardized guidelines, and make corrections as needed. Help resolve discrepancies permanently by improving the coding system
• Enter journal entries related to payroll expenses into the accounting system
• Dependable - your co-workers count on you to get your tasks done on time and accurately. Asking questions and curiosity about how the entire system works are encouraged, and will lead to success in this job.
• Candidate must be able to provide their own dedicated work space and internet connection.

Skills

• Knowledge of debits and credits, and the general accounting process
• Familiarity with software applications such as Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
• Intermediate skill level operating a computer and relevant programs over the internet
• Strong communication skills

• Excellent attention to detail
• Diploma / AA in accounting or relevant field
