The Nursing Supervisor assesses, plans and directs the operations and functions of the departments in the hospital setting. This includes cost control, personnel management, quality improvement monitoring, direct and indirect patient care. Lead educator and consultant who role models advance practice in the care of every patient regardless of age or viability. Coordinates and manages employee resources effectively in relation to patient acuity, staffing issues, and communication, while demonstrating critical thinking, confidence, core values, fairness and flexibility. Some of the major job functions include but are not limited to:Floats to other nursing units as required or needed. Assigned and performs patient care responsibilities up to level of skills and competence. - Qualifications
- Graduation from an NLNAC accredited School of Nursing
- BSN Preferred
- Critical Care experience preferred
- Recent 5 years minimum acute care experience required
- Minimal 2 years leadership experience required
- Registered Nurse with a current license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Current BLS through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Current ACLS and PALS
- Critical thinking skills
- Critical decision making ability
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize quickly
- Knowledge, skill and ability to deal with stress and conflict appropriately
