CRA seeks a Geophysical Archaeologist to work in our Lexington, Kentucky, office.


Employment Type: Salaried; Full-Time

Compensation: $50,000 to $70,000, negotiable commensurate with experience

    • Paid Family Leave. The latter would consist of new mothers and fathers both get one week paid leave. New mothers get a “short term disability” benefit that is paid by the company. This is generally 6-8 weeks or as prescribed by their doctor. It is a percentage of your regular pay based on your tenure with the company: 90 days to 3 years: 60%; 3-10 years: 75%; 10 years: 90%
    • Professional development stipend ($1,000 per year)
    • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) annual renewal payment for Affiliated status

Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience with near-surface geophysical field and processing methods


DESCRIPTION


Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc. (CRA) is seeking a geophysical archaeologist in our Lexington, Kentucky, office. This permanent, full-time position is intended for a qualified individual who will be part of an archaeological geophysics team. The geophysical archaeology program at CRA conducts a variety of projects throughout the United States. The ideal candidate is an archaeologist with 3-5 years of experience with near-surface geophysical field and processing methods. Candidate will be expected to design and execute archaeological geophysics surveys involving a range of techniques including but not limited to GPR, EM, and magnetometry. Project assignments will involve producing site documents, processing data, creating graphical output for geophysical interpretations and preparing detailed reports.

Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in anthropology or closely related field.
    • Experience with near-surface geophysical survey and data processing.
    • Basic ArcGIS skills
    • Basic mapping skills with GPS and total station
    • Good writing skills
    • Leadership ability
    • Communication skills
    • Ability to travel
    • Due to the nature of the role, a reasonable level of physical fitness is required (tasks include extended periods of walking across rough terrain and loading/unloading of equipment)
    • Ability to work in all weather conditions
    • RPA Certification or Eligible for RPA Certification
    • Experience with archaeological excavations methods
    • Demonstrated ability to meet schedule and deadlines within a budget
    • Ability to lead and cooperate with a team in various environments, as well as work independently
    • Strong written and oral communication (English) skills
    • Strong analytical/technical, project management and report writing skills
    • Capable of improvising and troubleshooting in the field
    • Able to manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilities

Remote Work Option:

    • Report writing, desktop research, artifact analysis, remote meetings and other tasks may be conducted remotely at the employee’s place of residence.
    • The employee will travel and be on-site for all assigned fieldwork.
    • Travel may be required to the Lexington, Kentucky, office or other locations for public and private meetings, archival research, training, and other project tasks that may necessitate face-to-face meetings.
