The Administrative Support Specialist located in Child Support provides administrative support to the unit Staff members in the preparation and completion of court orders, court calendars and assisting the agency Attorney as requested. This position is involved in the packaging and delivering of court documents to the courthouse for processing, taking case notes while in court and all other duties as need.
- Communicate with Child Support Enforcement Agents, unit supervisor as well as other departments such as the Sheriff’s office, Clerk of Court office staff, county Information Services, and US Postal Service personnel via telephone and in person
- Perform notary public duties, certifying the identity and signatures of individuals for various legal documents as required.
- Travel to county Clerk of Court to file documents, search court files, deliver and/or pick up court documents
- Research county Register of Deeds records for birth certificates, marriage/divorce documents and death certificates
- Create and maintain spreadsheets to track the flow of legal documents that have been generated by agents
- Process outgoing mail for unit
- Use the ACTS system to enter data and store/retrieve information as required
- Scan all court filings into agency Document Imaging System
- Attend court and make written notes of court Findings of Fact and Decisions. Maintain record of court hearing outcome
- Monitor and distribute incoming faxes
- Process unit supplies request
Graduation from high school or GED and two (2) years of experience as an office assistant, secretarial, or records processor; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary additional requirements:
Successful completion of Data Entry, Spelling, Basic Excel and Basic Word tests will be required. Candidates selected as qualified will be contacted via email by a Human Resource representative for testing.

Driving is an essential function of this position. To be considered, you must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. If your driver’s license is from another state, you will be required to obtain and show proof of a valid NC driver’s license within 60 days of hire.
