Assessor- Full Time- Tax Assessment

To gather data and make determinations as to base year value and to perform specialized assessments in residential and commercial/industrial properties in Cumberland County.

Two positions will be filled from this job posting.

• 1. Conducts on site property inspections of residential, commercial, industrial, exempt construction and improvements made to existing properties as a follow up to building permits, subdivision and appeals and update the CAMA system with new data.
• 2. Review deed outliers.
• 3. Appraise all properties at base year value.
• 4. Research, verify, validate and record ownership changes to all real estate tax parcels.
• 5. Conduct annual inspections of all C&G & Farmland Preservation properties.
• 6. Processes all deeds and address changes into CAMA data base.
• 7. Represents the Assessment office before the Board of Assessment Appeals.
• 8. Posts properties for Tax Claims.
• 9. Analyze sales and market data including income and expense ratios.
• 10. Respond to inquiries in a timely, courteous and knowledgeable manner.
• 11.Attend classes and seminars to maintain CPE certification.

• 12. Be knowledgeable of and apply existing laws and new regulations that apply to Tax Assessment in PA.
• 14. Assists staff members with related job duties.
• 15. Assists in training of new staff members.
• 16. Performs other job-related duties as required.

• 1. High school diploma or equivalency, plus some training in real estate/appraisal or property taxes and some computer training required.
• 2. Certified Pennsylvania Evaluation (CPE) certification preferred or must have the ability to obtain within 2 years of employment.
• 3.Valid PA drivers license required.
• 4.3-4 years working experience in real estate, tax assessment preferred.
