Key Responsibilities
- Food Quality Control:
- Inspect all dishes before they leave the kitchen to ensure they meet quality and presentation standards.
- Verify that each order is complete, correctly garnished, and matches the customer's order.
- Address any discrepancies or issues with the kitchen staff promptly.
- Timing and Coordination:
- Coordinate the timing of food orders with the kitchen team to ensure all dishes for a table are ready simultaneously.
- Ensure that hot dishes are served hot and cold dishes are served cold.
- Monitor the pace of the meal to ensure a smooth dining experience.
- Order Accuracy:
- Cross-check orders against tickets to confirm accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate any special requests, dietary restrictions, or modifications to the kitchen.
- Verify that each dish corresponds to the appropriate table and guest.
- Garnish and Presentation:
- Ensure that each dish is garnished and plated according to established standards.
- Verify that plates are clean, and presentation is visually appealing.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to correct any presentation issues.
- Communication:
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the kitchen team, servers, and management.
- Relay order status and any special guest requests promptly.
- Handle guest inquiries and special requests related to their meals.
- Cleanliness and Organization:
- Keep the expo station clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
- Assist with overall restaurant cleanliness, including clearing empty dishes and maintaining a tidy workspace.
- Previous experience as an expeditor or in a similar role in a restaurant is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the kitchen and dining area for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of trays and dishes weighing up to 30 pounds.
