Medical Assistant - Family Medicine Practice, Covington, Louisiana
Position Overview : We are a well-established family medicine practice located in the heart of Covington, Louisiana, dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare services to families and individuals of all ages.
We are currently seeking a compassionate, diligent Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in delivering patient care, managing clinical tasks, and supporting our healthcare providers to ensure a smooth, efficient, and caring environment for our patients.
Schedule :
- Part-time position
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday
- 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist physicians and nursing staff in the delivery of patient care by performing clinical duties such as taking vital signs, drawing blood, administering vaccines, and preparing patients for examination.
- Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to, scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes.
- Facilitate patient communication by providing detailed instructions regarding procedures, medication, and lifestyle adjustments.
- Ensure examination rooms are clean and stocked with necessary medical supplies.
- Comply with healthcare regulations and safety standards while maintaining patient confidentiality as per HIPAA guidelines.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to support patient care plans.
- Participate in educational opportunities to update job knowledge and skills.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited medical assistant certification program preferred.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and medical staff effectively.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and procedures.
- Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
