What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Prep position at Curion?
The Kitchen Prep is responsible for the set-up, serving, cleaning and breakdown of all sensory and perceptual studies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position averaging 32 hours per week, in-person role working on-site at a Curion client site.
Responsibilities Include:
- Work in a laboratory test kitchen to prepare, cook, and serve food samples for the sensory team related panels
- Manage serving and timing logistics for sensory testing, organize samples and ballots and maintain a sanitary workplace
- Assist with development of SOPs, organize data, follow established procedures, and document test results
- Maintain stocks and inventory of food components, samples, ingredients, and supplies
- Support project teams with samples for sensory, analytics, and consumer testing
Job Qualifications:
- AA or BS degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
- 1 years of experience in a food lab or food pilot plant (pharmaceutical, biochemical and/or food)
- Enthusiasm for science, and self-motivated to make significant contributions in a team environment
- Outstanding listening and communication skills—both written and oral
- Excellent organizational skills with a particular focus upon managing details, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and adapt well to quick changes
- Ability to continuously establish and maintain excellent record keeping, inventory, and accountability
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and using math for formulation calculations
- Ability to independently troubleshoot issues when applicable and work with a diverse, dynamic team effectively
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
