Curo Pet Care ("Curo") is looking for a highly experienced Director, HR to join our team in our San Francisco, CA headquarters. The role will center on overseeing payroll, benefits and HRIS processing for our corporate and local teams.
We are a team of successful entrepreneurs and doctors using our own capital to improve the veterinary industry. One of our core focuses is to provide the best hospital facilities to our medical teams to best serve our clients. Curo today is a family of over 38 independent veterinary hospitals, many of which we have significantly renovated or built new facilities for since acquisition. They are highly profitable and well-positioned for growth with strong support from the ownership team.
About the Role:
As our Director, HR you will oversee and provide support for activities relating to payroll, benefits and HRIS processing including monitoring internal audit procedures to ensure that all benefits, wages and taxes are accurate. You will work closely with our Finance, Transitions and operations teams to ensure that our new and existing hospitals are accurately and efficiently accounted and provided for.
What You'll Do:
As part of a rapidly scaling operation, this is an exciting opportunity to support existing hospital teams and implement organizational policy in a positive direction. We are looking for someone with the experience and ability to:
- Support hospital team members and regional managers with questions related to payroll processing, onboarding and separation, and benefits
- Manage unemployment and workers compensation claims
- Serve as an additional advocate (next to our brokers) for all things related to employee benefits
- Provide expert guidance related to standard and special leave instances
- Onboard new hospitals to our standardized benefits systems
- Drive our transition from small to large group benefits, when the time is right
- Manage and reproduce employment agreements for professional and paraprofessional team members in accordance with law and internal protocols
- Manage regional compliance reporting with respect to benefits (minimum health care contributions, commuter benefits etc.)
- Recommend standards and process improvements
- Drive benefits practices with an eye towards merging absolute and perceived value
Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of experience administering payroll, HRIS and benefits processes required
- Knowledge of payroll practices, benefits administration, and compliance
- Should have strong knowledge of a variety of HRIS software applications including payroll, benefits, time & attendance and self-service systems
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
- Strong understanding of payroll/benefit processes, eligibility and enrollment rules, and benefit procedures
- Experience with implementing a HRIS is a plus
