What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Dental Assistant position at Current Orthodontics?
We are looking for a competent and motivated dental assistant to join our orthodontic team! Dental assistant applicants must be certified from an accredited program. Prior orthodontia experience is a plus, and EFDA certification is required within 6 months of hire. You should be able to follow instructions and be knowledgeable of dental office regulations. We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care and an asset during orthodontia procedures. Excellent patient communication skills is a must. Someone who maintains a positive attitude, takes initiative, and works well on a team is ideal.

Responsibilities
- Welcome patients into the dental office
- Prepare patients for treatments or checkups ensuring their comfort
- Select and set up instruments, equipment and material needed
- Sterilize instruments according to regulations
- Assist the dentist with orthodontia procedures
- Undertake lab tasks as instructed
- Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
- Keep the dental room clean and well-stocked
- Schedule appointments
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures
Skills
- Proven experience as a certified dental assistant
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
- Understanding of health & safety regulations
- Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus
- Good computer skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Attention to detail
- Well-organized and reliable
- Successful completion of a dental assistant program is required upon hire
- EFDA required within 6 months of hire
