POSITION SUMMARY |
The Supervisor of CTE reports to the Chief Academic Officer and is responsible for the administration, organization and supervision of Division-wide CTE programming. This includes developing curriculum and new programs, providing staff development, submitting state and federal reports, supporting teachers, and preparing and monitoring a budget. The Supervisor of CTE will create and lead a robust vision for increasing the access that all students to CTE opportunities. |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS |
1. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of a comprehensive career education program 2. Assists in the development and implementation of school division and regional CTE initiatives by providing leadership in support of Profile of a Graduate initiatives, specifically in the areas of career pathways 3. Chairs the division CTE Advisory Committee 4. Prepares and monitors the division’s CTE budget, including the Perkins Grant 5. Works with the Career Counselor to oversee industry certifications, to include ordering, disseminating, analyzing, and reporting results 6. Works with the Career Counselor and school counselors to make sure high school students have met all requirements in the CTE field that leads to graduation and credentialing 7. Indirectly supervises CTE teachers and monitors instruction in CTE classrooms through school visits and classroom observations on a regular basis to ensure consistency of content and effectiveness of instructional delivery 8. Collaborates with teachers to coordinate events for students 9. Serves as a central office liaison with the business/industry community to coordinate school-based instruction and work experience programs. 10. Serves on division, state, and regional committees. 11. Coordinates curriculum development, implementation, and revisions to the curriculum in K-12 Health and Physical Education, Driver Education, and 6-12 CTE 12. Reviews, makes recommendations, and handles purchasing related to instructional materials and equipment 13. Monitors changes in laws, policies, and the Standards of Learning in the assigned curriculum areas and makes changes to the curriculum and programs as needed 14. Works with the Career Counselor, school counselors, and curriculum and instruction staff to explore a wide range of academic and career options 15. Manages and guides the selection and inventory of textbooks, equipment, hardware, software, and other teaching materials 16. Works with athletic directors to make sure policies and regulations related to VHSL requirements are followed 17. Provides support to athletic directors 18. Serves as the division contact for the NCAA Clearinghouse 20. Prepares and submits state and federal reports in a timely manner 21. Prepares necessary data reports 22. Completes other duties assigned by the Chief Academic Officer |

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
- Must possess endorsements in a Career & Technical Education area or administration and supervision.
- Must possess a Master’s Degree and be eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License.
- Must have three years of successful teaching experience in a related field. Some experience in an instructional supervisory capacity preferred. A broad knowledge of state and federal CTE guidelines, curriculum analysis and development, and use of technological applications in the classroom is preferred.
- Must possess experience and skills in budget management, records management, and data interpretation.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers, administrators and business/industry leaders.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY |
- The Supervisor of Career and Technical Education supervises the coordination and implementation of high quality CTE programs and does not supervise or evaluate the performance of other faculty.
