The CAD/CAM Designer/Drafter plays a crucial role in the product development process by creating detailed technical drawings and models using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software. This position requires a strong understanding of basic mechanical principles and materials science, along with proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting. The CAD/CAM Designer/Drafter should have experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and be capable of interacting with key stakeholders within the organization. Knowledge of software such as AutoCAD and Solidworks is essential, and familiarity with extruded aluminum designs is an asset.

Key Responsibilities:
- Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings and models of components and assemblies using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Apply GD&T principles to clearly define tolerances and geometric features on drawings.
- Possess a fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principles to accurately translate concepts into technical designs.
- Proficient in using CAD software, preferably AutoCAD and Solidworks, to create detailed designs and CAM software for manufacturing processes.
- Experience with extruded aluminum and glass assemblies is a plus, understanding the unique design considerations associated with this material, specifically glass, glass sealing and water management for outdoor assemblies.
- Experience with water management
- Act as the primary resource for generating OEM and Aftermarket product prints and models, ensuring they meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to tasks, taking initiative in problem-solving and completing assignments independently.
- Maintain organized file systems and version control to ensure the integrity and traceability of design revisions.
- Education: Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience as a CAD/CAM Designer/Drafter with a focus on mechanical components. Experience with extruded aluminum design is a plus.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Solidworks.
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles.
- Basic knowledge of materials science and mechanical engineering concepts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer interactions.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and accuracy in technical drawings.
- Familiarity with file system management and revision control systems.
