Summary
The position of Cost Accountant will have primary responsibility around the accounting function specific to our established Manufacturing division. This role will have core responsibility around supporting the accounting objectives and the controller with analysis, month end review, regular reconciliations, and ongoing operations reporting. As the Cost Accountant, you will work closely with the Senior Cost Accountant, senior accounting leadership and plant operations.
- Assist and ensure the monthly financials for each of the 3 manufacturing sites are timely and accurately depicted in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Helping in the development of a standard costing model for each manufacturing product line.
- Plan, organize, and direct activities of the cost accounting function.
- Perform day to day operations of the existing cost accounting function from review of current rates to monthly close and analysis.
- Support internal and external financial and process audits.
- Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs, working with the management team on adjustments needed to the standard cost model
- Support and assist with annual physical count and reconciliation of finished goods inventories and fixed assets; quarterly cycle counts of key inventory
- Assist with the development of business cases around enhancements to production capacity
- Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports
- Providing the management team with monthly management reporting on site performance including but not limited to units produced, raw materials, direct labor, direct parts, burden/overhead, specific shop performance, warranty/quality, scrap/waste and other key performance
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 solid years of general Accounting, preferably in a Manufacturing Environment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Must have excellent analytical skills
- Sound understanding of accounting principals
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Stable work history
- Experience with continuous improvement around undefined processes
- Strong quantitative and analytical competency
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Familiarity of Sarbanes Oxley rules, regulations, and practices
- Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
- Positive attitude and works well with a team
- Works between an office and plant environment with Exposure to varying degrees of temperatures and noise.
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time including overnight stays

- Attendance - The ability to work as scheduled with punctual attendance, Monday-Friday plus any additional hours/days necessary to meet business demands.
