The Role
Cypress Creek Renewables is seeking motivated candidates for a project developer or senior project developer position to support solar development projects. This position would support the Development Department and would report to a Director hiring manager. As a project developer of Cypress Creek development projects, the role requires managing between 4-10 utility-scale solar and energy storage projects and all their development activities across the Northeast. An effective candidate will demonstrate sound industry and project development knowledge, superior leadership and communication skills, the ability to focus on minute details while still seeing the big picture, detailed organization, and a desire to solve complex problems. Cypress Creek is seeking a candidate with a specific emphasis on commercial strategy, origination, financial modeling, and market development for this role. - Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: *
- Manage and lead development activities by working with internal teams in areas including, but not limited to site acquisition, real estate and title, interconnection, engineering, survey, environmental, offtake, and policy
- Prioritize, coordinate, review, and track key development deliverables with internal teams and external legal, zoning, environmental, interconnection, and engineering consultants
- Manage and report project data as it pertains to budget, schedule, and deliverables
- Achieve development milestones on time and on budget for projects to successfully move into financing and construction
- Gather market intelligence and expand relationships with local government, utility, and other stakeholder groups to understand the project development and permitting processes
- Prepare and submit land use permitting applications, manage development of site layouts for permitting and coordinate, and attend and present at permitting meetings
- Review and manage project contracts including leases, interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements to ensure compliance with their terms
- Building strategic relationships with development, finance, and EPC partners
- Regular travel to visit project sites, and other Cypress Creek offices when normal travel operations resume
- Support Development Director in commercial strategy and origination for new market entry and competitive advancement in existing, mature markets
- Coordinate with Investment Analytics, Structured Finance, and Mergers & Acquisitions teams to creatively advance project valuations and monetization strategies within the Development organization
Requirements
- Four-year Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
- Energy, engineering, or business related Master's degree is a plus
- 1-3 years' experience required in energy infrastructure development
- Project management, organizational, and analytical problem-solving skills
- Strong organization and communication skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to self-start in a fast-paced environment
- Results-driven and solutions-oriented
- Ability to lead, manage, and mentor potential direct reports
