Job Description
Tech Writer (Remote)
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Author the solicitation for the procurement to replace the existing Maryland College Aid Processing System
(MDCAPS).
2. The Technical Writer shall work directly with the project team to determine and define business processes,
requirements, and specifications for the new system.
3. Work with project team to gather supporting documentation from the existing system.
4. Review and edit functional and non-functional requirements and descriptions.
5. Conduct research needed to perform the scope of work, including but not limited to ensuring the use of
proper technical terminology.
6. Create and assist in collecting and organizing information for preparation of user manuals, training
materials, installation and operations guides, and reports using text and graphics.
General Experience:
1. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in this area.
Specialized Experience:
1. At least five (5) years of experience in authoring, reviewing, and editing solicitations for complex
information technology procurements.
2. At least five (5) years of experience with creating and editing technical and non-technical manuals and
documentation.
Education:
1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems,
Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline.
