Warehouse Associate
Reports To: Warehouse Manager
FLSA Status: Non exempt
Summary
The Warehouse Associate is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming shipments. Their duties include organizing inventory for easy retrieval as new orders come in, reviewing incoming and outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations and documenting damages to inventory. The ideal candidate will be organized, be able to multitask, and have strong communication skills.
Essential Functions
- Counts, weighs or measures incoming or outgoing items and verify against bills of lading, pack lists, orders or other records
- Examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages; completes paperwork or forms required for documentation
- Utilizes knowledge of shipping procedures; prepares materials for shipping by weighing, packaging and stamping; prepares necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading properly by weight and position
- Resolves problems utilizing knowledge of shipping/receiving/stock operations
- Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage
- Participates in routing, counting and inspecting items while loading and unloading trucks.
- Facilitate and provide communication to Distribution Managers to ensure objectives are met on a daily and monthly basis.

To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Must have basic computer skills for inventory management and order processing.
- Must be able to drive a forklift
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills including the ability to configure and measure product for shipment
- Adhere to safe work practices outlined by the company.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must have a self starter attitude.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner.
- Has a willingness to learn.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be forklift certified
- Must have a valid drivers license
- At least 2 years previous experience in a shipping and receiving position
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
The working environment is moderately quiet with some temperature ranges from cold to hot as found in typical warehouse facilities. May be subject to an outdoor work environment with adverse conditions of severe heat.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, frequently walk and climb steps, use hands and fingers, reach, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, lift, crouch, work on ladder, talk, hear and see.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
