Department Manager

Description

Dale Hardware, a member of ACE Hardware, and one of the largest independently owned and operated hardware retailers in the USA, is looking for a Department Manager to lead a specific department and team within our store.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of the operation within your department to assure that all work is being done according to plan.
• Investigate and report all injuries of an employee under your supervision by following our Injury Illness Prevention Program.
• Establish & maintain a work environment that is conducive to teamwork, high morals and effective practices.
• Conduct regularly scheduled monthly meetings with team members to assure communication of customer service, safety, product knowledge and procedures.
• Attend occasional hardware shows and conventions in order to stay current with product selections, which also meets our customers needs and expectations and at the same time provides an acceptable margin of profit to the company.
• Evaluate all systems within your department in order to optimize performance and profitability.
• Recommend to management new opportunities that will complement our current product lines, maximize profitability to the company and will help the company reach our strategic objective.
• Purge products from our inventory that are no longer selling, no longer appropriate or over-stocked.
• Continually attempt to acquire information and knowledge about the products that we sell.
• Maintain a well displayed, stocked, signed and organized department with clean bins and shelving.
• Create employee schedules that assure our customers are being accommodated in the spirit of our strategic objective.
• Assist customers in manner that exemplifies our strategic objective.
• Maintain a well organized back stock area.
• Maintain bin labels or price stickers on every item with current pricing and fresh looking labels

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

• Prior management experience, preferably in a retail hardware store or other hardware related industry.
• High School Diploma

Salary : $21 - $25
